We are a community committed to Christ, seeking to worship and glorify God, to deepen our personal relationships with Him, to strengthen each other through the power of the Holy Spirit, and to share Christ's love with our neighbors.

 

Our congregation has a deep and abiding faith in God's love and in the salvation He offers to all through Jesus Christ, His Son. We believe that God's word in the Bible is the authoritive source for living our daily lives. We strive to share God's word in a relevant fashion in order to help bring others to faith and nourish them as they grow in faith.

 

First Presbyterian Church was established in 1887 with 21 members and was located at Gale & Linden Avenues. With 87 members in 1894, a new church was built at Park & Oak. Today, the congregation is located at the corner of Quick and Lathrop Avenues, its third location, which was built in 1928.

 

Worshipping God is a strong emphasis and we worship in both contemporary and traditional formats. We also offer many educational, fellowship and small group opportunities for children, youth and adults.

Welcome Reverend Rich Davis and family

In December 2007 we welcomed our new senior pastor Rev. Richard Davis and his wife Shauna, son Tyler, and daughter Kamryn.

 

Rich and his wife have been married 6 1/2 years. They are both orginally from the Chicago suburbs (Rich from Winthrop Harbor and Shauna from Skokie).

 

Rich's Experience & Education:

  • Ordained - Reformed Church of America - Racine, Wisconsin, 2004
  • Master of Divinity - Western Theological Seminary, 2004
  • Bachelor of Arts - University of Wisconsin, 2001
  • Willow Creek leadership training 2005, 2006, and 2007
  • Rich has served at Martin Reformed Church in Martin, Michigan for 5 1/2 years. He started there as a seminary intern and head of small groups, and assumed the role of Interim Pastor while finishing seminary. Since 2004, Rich as served as Senior Pastor, preaching two different sermons each week. Under Rich's leadership, the church has grown from 350-400 members.

We are excited to have Rich join the staff at First Pres and we look forward to many years together. 

 

As of summer 2004 we have completed an accessibility addition to the south side of the building that provides elevator access and accessible restrooms on all three levels while still maintaining all current parking spaces.
